Vostryakovskoye is a large western-Moscow cemetery with a substantial and well-known Jewish section, which is administered separately and has its own entrance and its own records.
Along with Preobrazhenskoye, it is the cemetery that families who emigrated from Moscow in the late Soviet period most often ask us about.
What grave care at Vostryakovskoye actually involves
The site is mostly open, so summer grass is the main recurring work, alongside washing the stone and levelling the mound.
The Jewish section has its own conventions, and we follow the family’s instructions on flowers, stones and how the plot should be left. If you tell us nothing, we do the minimum that is unambiguously respectful and ask before doing more.
If you are not sure which part of the cemetery the grave is in, that is normal — the two administrations keep separate records and we check both rather than making you choose.
