Pyatnitskoye is another of the cemeteries founded in 1771 during the plague, close to the centre and still in use. It is compact, old and densely occupied, with graves from every period since the 18th century.
Its central location makes it easy for us to reach, which matters if you need something done quickly — it is one of the cemeteries where a same-week visit is usually possible.
What grave care at Pyatnitskoye actually involves
Density is the defining constraint: passages are narrow, plots adjoin each other closely, and there is no room to lay out materials. Work is done by hand and in stages.
Old marble and limestone predominate in the historic sections and take gentle treatment only. Twentieth-century plots are a mix of marble chip, concrete and granite.
Trees shade most of the ground, so moss and green film return each season; scheduled care two to three times a year keeps a plot looking maintained, a single annual visit does not.

How quickly can you visit?
Pyatnitskoye is centrally located, so outside the Radonitsa peak a visit within the week is usually possible.
Can a monument be replaced here?
Yes, but access is tight and everything is carried in by hand, which affects the price. We tell you the real cost before you decide.
Is there anything you cannot do at an old cemetery like this?
We will not use pressure washers or acid on historic stone, and we will not touch a protected monument structurally without written permission. Those limits are there to avoid doing harm that cannot be undone.
