Mitinskoye opened in 1978 in the north-west of the city and is one of Moscow’s large modern cemeteries: numbered sections, paved alleys, and enough space between rows to work properly. It is best known for the memorial to the firefighters who died after the Chernobyl accident.
It is an easy cemetery to serve remotely — the layout is logical, the administration keeps usable records, and vehicles can reach most sections.
What grave care at Mitinskoye actually involves
Most plots are open to the sun, so grass is the main seasonal problem and mowing is the bulk of the work from May to September.
The soil is loamy and settles after heavy rain: mounds sink and need topping up, and kerbs can go out of level over a few years. Both are straightforward to correct here, and we quote them separately from the cleaning.
Headstones are predominantly granite of the 1980s onwards, which mainly needs regular washing. Where a stone has started to lean — usually from ground settlement rather than poor installation — resetting it on a proper bed is a one-day job.

Our headstone has started to lean. Can it be reset?
Yes. We dig out the base, re-bed it level and re-seal the joint. We photograph the stone before and after, and we quote the job only after seeing it.
Can you do work in winter?
Cleaning and flower placement, yes. Ground work — resetting, new installations, paving — waits for the thaw, because anything set in frozen ground moves again in spring. We will say so rather than take the money.
How much does a seasonal package cost?
