Kuntsevskoye is a mid-sized cemetery in the west of Moscow, opened in 1941 and closed to most new burials for decades — which means almost everything here is a family plot with relatives who have moved away, often abroad.
It is a quiet, wooded site and one where the difference between a maintained and an unmaintained plot is very visible, because the neighbours are maintained.
What grave care at Kuntsevo actually involves
Heavy tree cover means leaves in autumn, moss on the north face of every stone, and slow drying after rain. A stone here needs washing more often than the same stone at an open cemetery.
Many monuments date from the 1950s–70s: marble chip, concrete, painted metal fences and lettering that was originally filled with paint or gilding. Refreshing that lettering is one of the most common jobs here and it transforms how the plot reads in a photograph.
Older iron fences rust at ground level first. We clean and repaint them rather than replacing them where the metal is still sound — replacing a 1960s fence with a modern one is rarely what the family actually wanted once they see the photographs.

Questions we are asked about Kuntsevo
The lettering on our stone is unreadable in photographs. Can it be restored?
Usually yes — cleaning the cut and refilling it with paint or gilding. This is cosmetic restoration of existing lettering, not re-cutting, and it is inexpensive relative to the difference it makes.
Can you repaint an old metal fence?
Yes: rust removal, primer and enamel. We photograph the condition first so you can decide between repainting and replacement.
How quickly can you go?
Outside the Radonitsa and Trinity peaks, typically within 5–7 days of confirming the order.
